Mash The State…

Yesterday we received this awesome mash-up from Berlin artist Hagen Klennert. He used the The Border Shakedown Action Map by Hungry Knife Artist Guy Sparger as a background for this intriguing illustration sent in conveyance of solidarity. We totally dig it…

It came attached to this message, “your zine is a good work and I know what a fucking border is
-many greetings from Hagen Berlin, Germany.”
Hagen grew up in Berlin & Moscow during the Cold War. He knows what a fucking border is because he escaped across the motherfucker of all borders when he fled the GDR in 1985 (that’s Stalinist East Germany for everyone born after the 80′s). Read this wiki article if you don’t remember how completely hardcore that is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stasi
Hagen’s work is powerful stuff; deftly direct & expressive yet thoughtfully symbolic. You can check it out here: http://www.hagenklennert.de We were immediately engrossed with the images on his website & Google did a semi-adequate job translating the German. Call ‘dibs’ on this (before they’re all gone!)

⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋⸋
We got these excellent new DIBS stickers today & they’re freakin’ sweet.

But we’re not selling them because they’re FREE with every order placed at our store! Or you can get one by subscribing to our ‘zine, which is also free.
Use it to conspicuously & indisputably ‘call dibs’ on anything in question. If you think of a funny place to apply your dibs sticker, send us a photo with the location (i.e. “Brooklyn, Death Valley, Disneyworld, etc.) and we’ll mail you a spiffy button like the one in Godzilla’s claw.

Dive! The Movie

I just found out about this movie; the trailer looks great! I can’t wait to see the whole thing. Here’s the ‘about’ text from the movie website:
“Inspired by a curiosity about our country’s careless habit of sending food straight to landfills, the multi award-winning documentary DIVE! follows filmmaker Jeremy Seifert and friends as they dumpster dive in the back alleys and gated garbage receptacles of Los Angeles’ supermarkets. In the process, they salvage thousands of dollars worth of good, edible food – resulting in an inspiring documentary that is equal parts entertainment, guerilla journalism and call to action.”

Free Graphic #19: The Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN)

〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜
This isn’t a thoughtful analysis of the EZLN and I ain’ tryin’ to pose as being directly connected with their struggle. I’ve never visited Chiapas, Mexico but I have met & conferred with Zapatistas from Chiapas (once …at a Mayday event). So I’m not an expert, but I know some stuff. In fact, I know a shit-load about globalization and plenty about rebellion. The story of the Zapatista Army IS the story of globalization and rebellion. For about 20 years the EZLN have been kickin’ ass and showing the rest of the world how people get organized & rise up together against the motherfuckin’ corporate state apparatus. So I made this engaging and informative-as-fuck graphic which I intend as a simultaneous expression of solidarity and a vehicle for awareness. Oh, and you can download it in full resolution (11×19 inches) for FREE.

File Under ‘Easily Avoided’…

〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
Here’s the latest from our favorite west Texas checkpoint, Sierra Blanca on US Interstate 10; AKA, ‘Camp Touch My Junk’. This is where Willie Nelson’s bus also got the shakedown. Our own Guy Sparger of Hungry Knife also received a pig groping & spent four hours in federal custody at this location. His personal experience was the inspiration for Hungry Knife’s very popular BORDER SHAKEDOWN ACTION MAP. Snoop Dog or anyone else could easily avoid this ‘stoner trap’ by downloading the FREE version of our informative map graphic, like you’re about to do right now when you click THIS LINK <<< click & be liberated, citizen!

Free Graphic #18: Protest Anything

⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋⥋

This is a detail from an Earth First! Journal cover I illustrated (Eostar: March-April 2009). It’s a drawing of a radical fox perched atop a tripod protesting the shit out of something. A tripod is a simple structure used in protests & blockades, often erected from wooden poles or pipes lashed together with climbing rope. Below is a small photo of the thing in action:
